Government Approves CIT Paid-Up Capital Increase to Rs 5.31 Billion

Kathmandu: The government of Nepal has granted permission to the Citizen's Investment Trust (CIT) to increase its paid-up capital. Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, announced during a press conference that the government has allowed CIT to raise its paid-up capital to Rs 5.31 billion. Minister Sharma, who also serves as the government's spokesperson, shared this information at the Ministry on Wednesday.

In addition to this, the government has decided to accept the 7th periodic report of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) from 1979. Furthermore, the Cabinet meeting has authorized Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense, Purna Bahadur Khadka, to participate as the chief guest in the 8th NRNA Middle East Regional Conference, which is taking place in Oman.

The government has also endorsed an action plan for the implementation of a bilateral labor agreement between Nepal and the United Kingdom. The planned visit of Ram Kumar Thapa, Chief of the District Coordination Committee in Myagdi, to Chhendu in the Sichuan Province of China to attend a business workshop has been approved by the government.

Moreover, the government has empowered all district courts to register and settle cases related to crimes mentioned in Chapter 9 of the Electronic Transaction Act, 2023. The district courts are also authorized to handle crimes listed in Section 3 (c) of the Banking Crime and Punishment Act, 2064.

Additionally, a team will be formed to restore border pillar 51 (1) to its correct location in Tatopani/Jhangmu along the Nepal-China border as per the government's decision. The Cabinet meeting has also approved the exemption of taxes for the land transfer related to the 'Giranchaur Integrated Model Settlement Reconstruction and Tourism Promotion Project'.
